Care Philosophy
Foundation in Wellness’s expertise lies in our ability to provide compassionate care to patients and their families, particularly with complementary and holistic care. We excel at developing relationships with patients during their initial interview in order to ensure their comfort. We’re skilled in conducting evaluations and inpatient counseling regarding illness and disease prevention as well as drug and alternative treatment plans and other forms of therapy.
Our passion lies in identifying and addressing root-cause issues, whether physical, emotional, or spiritual. We draw on the ancient wisdom of Traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine and traditional naturopathy, as well as the avant-garde acumen of functional medicine and epigenetics.
How We Treat Patients
Alternative Medicine
Alternative medicine, as the name suggests, is considered “outside the box” and an unorthodox approach to treating health issues when compared to a regular medical practice. It’s not limited to the standard procedures, protocols, or tools used commonly in the medical world. It employs different methods of treatment such as herbal treatments, acupressure, aroma therapy, and much more. At Foundations In Wellness, we’ve found undeniable success with alternative medicine, even though it is considered the “alternate” route to healing.
Ayurvedic Medicine
Ayurvedic Medicine is one of the world’s oldest forms of medical practice, originating over 3,000 years ago in India. It emphasizes plant-based and herbal remedies, as well as practical forms of care such as nutrition, and exercise, to prevent disease and bad health. At Foundations In Wellness, we base our practice on the Ayurvedic principles that good health and wellness all stem from the balance of the mind, body, and spirit.
Botanical Medicine
Botanical medicine, also known as herbal medicine, utilizes plants to help treat and prevent disease. In a world where synthetic, lab-made medication is the norm, we’ve forgotten the power of nature’s medicine, some of which we can find in our own backyard. Before billion-dollar companies started producing these chemically-laden medicines, mankind used what they could find to treat and prevent disease. Foundations in Wellness believes in going back to our roots and utilizing the power of plants paired with a scientific, evidence-based approach.
Functional Medicine
According to the Institute for Functional Medicine, functional medicine is a “systems biology–based approach that focuses on identifying and addressing the root cause of disease.”1. Because modern medicine seeks to mask symptoms with medications or surgery, it usually fails to find the root cause of pain or sickness. Many people leave their doctor's office with persisting health issues, unable to find relief or an answer. Seeking answers, many of these patients resort to a functional medicine practitioner. We’ve found that these patients leave our practice healed and in better health than before, because the philosophy of our care is based on getting to the root cause.
Health Coaching
Many people are motivated to optimize their health, but they don’t know where to start. That’s where health coaching from a functional medicine standpoint comes in. At Foundations in Wellness, our health coaching embodies a holistic approach, optimizing you for full-body health. We take into account factors like nutrition, exercise & movement, and stress reduction so you can achieve your health goals.
Lifestyle Medicine
Lifestyle Medicine is the approach that emphasizes lifestyle changes to treat, prevent or reverse health issues. The six pillars of lifestyle medicine are healthy eating, physical activity, stress management, avoiding risky substances, restorative sleep, and meaningful social connections. With our expert guidance and coaching in this field, you will see true, optimal health like never before.
Naturopathic Medicine
The Naturopathic encourages the body’s innate self-healing process. Like the functional medicine approach, it identifies and removes the underlying cause of any illness or pain. When using substances to heal, naturopathic medicine promotes the use of the least invasive, most natural options to minimize harmful side effects. As a naturopathic practice, we seek to educate our patients and encourage personal responsibility for health.
